What Real Blessings Look Like
Maybe you don’t enjoy your job.
• You dread waking up every morning
• The work is meaningless & mundane
• It hardly pays the bills
If this sounds like you, it may be time to re-examine not what you are doing, but rather how you are doing it.
• The energy you hold about the job title
• The energy you hold upon arriving
• The energy you hold while there
I believe everything we do has a purpose and a supernatural meaning behind it. For instance, you feel bitter about your job. Just thinking about it seems to suck the life right out of you.
But hear me out.
You’re there for a reason. And that reason just might reveal itself, if you show up with an open heart and if you release your resentment towards it.
Because this is what blessings look like:
That coworker you often avoid for being belligerent. The one who’s rough around the edges and always asks you to come over. He may reach out on that day your heart is open to see if you’re free Saturday to come help put up a fence in his yard. You want to reject him as the many other times, but you say yes.
With enthusiasm, you show up on the Saturday, ready to get to work. His demeanour is different. And while working he begins to confide to you. He lost his wife to leukaemia last year. It was bad. He’s now a single dad to three young girls. It’s been hard and he expresses how grateful he is to have your help.
For the first time, you feel like you’re in the right place at the right time. And it never would’ve happened if you walked into work that day with a closed heart. A week passes, and out of nowhere a job opportunity opens. The pay is great and is exactly where you want to be.
Blessings are not always about you getting something. They are often about you helping others, then feeling a certain way through that, which then opens up a new path.
